Born in 1976 in Cascais, Tino developed interest in drumming from a very early age, greatly inspired by his father, who was also a drummer.

He enroled in the Hot Clube de Portugal school, where he studied with big jazz names like Aldo Cavaglia, Bruno Pedroso, André Sousa Machado, Carlos Vieira, Vasco Agostinho, Nelson Cascais, Bernardo Moreira, among others. Tino studied classic percussion with professor Carlos Alberto Girão, in thee Escola Nossa Senhora do Cabo. He also took private lessons with renowned drummers Alexandre Frazão and Michael Lauren. In 2003 he went to London, where he attended DrumTech school and took lessons from brazilian percussionist João Bosco de Oliveira. In 2012 he studied percussion in Havana - Cuba, with musician Ruy Lopez Nussa.

Tino has played with many different acts: Primitive Reason, Bárbara Lagido, Corina Bartra (Peru), Silvestre Fonseca, Amy Winehouse Tribute, Jamiroquai Tribute, Toy, Bruce Henri Trio, Tortuga Voodoo, Dynamite, Catarina Pinho, Iran Costa, The Pulse, Cabaret musical theater, Filhos do Sim musical theater, Era uma vez musical theater, and many others.
